In the summer of 2014 The Bulldog Amsterdam sponsored a project called ARTZUID JUNIOR. This is an art and education project, which connects youth with art through a design contest. For this project talented students got the chance to work with professional artists to create sculptures for public spaces. It started in 2014, as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of the Vondelpark.

160 talented students from 32 schools competed in the contest, but only 20 of the designs won. The goal of this project is to develop talent. The schools which applied for this project were all assigned to a professional artist. These artists gave several master classes and eventually guided the students with their winning design.

The Bulldog Amsterdam sponsored Miek Hoekzema (professional poet and visual artist) and Zora Onink (student of Spinoza Lyceum) to create the sculpture, which they called ‘‘The Dog’.

On June the 15th the temporarily sculpture exhibition was opened during the festive celebration of the Vondelpark 150th anniversary.
